Our Little Honor Student

Well, this has been a fun time for Ellie!

This Monday, we got to go to an assemble to honor her (and others) and the January honor student for her class. Incidentally, she also is the "Star of the Week" in her classroom. The "Star" gets to make a poster of their families and themselves and share it with the class -- oh! -- and they get to sit in a fancy painted chair. :)

All of us were able to go to the assembly. Ellie was so proud. Now, you do need to understand that for the kindergartners, they draw names for the honor students (to make sure they all get a taste). That being said, it didn't take away any of the fun in celebrating with her. (Although, we have not told her about the drawing of names.)

Ellie also got to show off her sister and brother -- and Mom and Dad! Boy, that girl has a lot of energy!! It was a short and nice assembly. The principal read a short bit about each honored student (which the teachers had written). Ellie thought this was the GREATEST. Do you remember how amazing you thought the school principal was at 5 yrs old??? ... Well, that's how Ellie felt. The fact that "Mr. Dahl" stood next to her, spoke those things to her and gave her a pencil just about made her year!!!

The other kids are doing great! Josie is now 7 1/2 months old. She is nowhere near crawling -- and doesn't even sit up yet. But what she lacks in physical motivation, she makes up in enthusiasm for life and people. She has been pretty sick these past few weeks with flu/colds, but is still our Smiley Jo! Gideon continues to come into his own, and is becoming more boyish each day. He is realizing that he doean't have to play dress up or Barbies at Ellie's whim -- and has the freedom to pelt people with footballs when he feels the urge (even though he will no doubt get in trouble!). But he is a huge help around the house - and a sweet little guy!
